AssembleAR Wants to Make IKEA Furniture Even Better

The trade-off for the great prices IKEA offers is the fact that you need to assemble everything yourself. A basic table is easy, but get into furniture with drawers and unique elements and those picture-based instructions become infuriating. Designer Adam Pickard thinks the future could hold a better way, and that’s why he developed AssembleAR, an app that displays IKEA instructions in augmented reality. He included animations so that you can see each step being accomplished right next to the actual piece of furniture you’re building. Obviously, without IKEA’s blessing, this is only a concept for now.
